A Brief History of Cloth Diapers

For those who are new to cloth diapers, you should know that these things have been around for a long time already. In today's time, a lot of people are not aware of this because of the widespread of disposable diapers. Disposable diapers have already existed for more than 60 years already while the cloth diapers have started since the day that man wore clothes.

It was Johnson and Johnson who first introduced the disposable diapers way back in 1948. After that introduction, a huge marketing campaign for those diapers has then started. That marketing campaign eventually provided the popularity that the disposable diapers have in its market today. The downside that the disposable diapers had is the fact that they are accountable for the 2% in the entire municipal waste. With that number alone, it is clear that disposable diapers are a contributor in the harming of our planet.

Now that that fact has been stated, what are the reasons that had almost made the cloth diapers go extinct? For some people, it's probably the convenience aspect. The old style cloth diapers requires a lot of time for its pinning and folding. Apart from that, the materials used back in the days are not that totally advanced. The old style cloth diapers were only made from basic cloth while the modern ones are more advanced and more absorbent in every way.

The cloth diapers of today have a waterproof outer lining to keep anything from leaking out. Also, it provides more convenience now that they are pre-folded and are fitted quite perfectly on babies. It also contains hooks and loops or even a button-style closures that are so easy to use compared to the old pinning methods. This certainly keeps the cloth diapers in place and won't easily slip off like they used to.

Cloth diapers are also made with soft inner materials that can help reduce the irritation on a baby's skin. Apart from being super absorbent, they can also contain inner pockets to hold absorbent inner layers such as bamboo or microfiber inserts.

Lastly, cloth diapers don't come only in plain white colors. You will be treated to a wide array of colors and patterns to choose from which will surely make it fun for you the next time you go shopping for them.

So if you want to go biodegradable then there's no doubt that you have to go for cloth diapers. It's easy, better, and a whole lot of fun especially in choosing the right kind of style for your baby.
