So let’s burn through the rest of the Third Avenue El line photos from the Historic American Engineering Record over the next couple days. Above, the caption places the location at 183rd Street; as with previous photos in this subset, the area looks a lot more open and airy these days without the elevated tracks. Below, we trek about 20 blocks south to about 161st Street with a look down from the station rather than up at it. What do you see here?
