One could probably trace the entire length of the now-demolished Third Avenue El as it ran through the Bronx thanks to the photos in the Historic American Engineering Record – which, if you think about it, was sorta the purpose of the HAER. For example, yesterday's street scenes included a shot of the 183rd Street station, and the above photo shows the El as it passed over 184th Street. Then the below photo shows the El as it passed over 185th Street. What do you see here?
