Mazda took a significant gamble in 1989 when it released the Miata, its take on the classic British roadster. The risk paid off, and after eight years of building the car's first generation NA models, Mazda opted to kick off the second generation NB models with a limited production 10th Anniversary Edition Mazda Miata. A total of 7,500 examples were built worldwide, with 3,000 of these imported into the United States. All were finished in Sapphire Blue Mica paint, with a blue cloth top and an interior trimmed in medium blue, and all came equipped with nearly every factory option (except for the removable hard top). Anniversary Edition cars (10AEs, in Miata-speak) retained the standard five spoke Miata wheels, but these were brightly polished on the limited edition cars, which also came with a scale model, a special key fob and a Seiko wristwatch.
As with all first and second-generation Miatas, clean, unmodified, low-mileage examples are getting harder to find and ever more expensive, which is what makes this 1999 Mazda Miata 10th Anniversary Edition, for sale on Hemmings.com, particularly attractive. Not only is the car unaltered from stock form, but it shows a mere 41,000 miles on the odometer and is still owned by the original buyer. Maintenance records and service manuals are included with the car, too, as is the original die cast model and Seiko watch. From the seller's description:
