It takes some reading between the lines of the seller’s description of this 1985 Audi 4000S for sale on Hemmings.com to see beyond the checklist of items that need to be addressed on the car. That is, if a missing molding, a timing belt, and a cooling fan issue are the worst facets of this car, then that likely means it remains in great shape, it still reliably runs and drives, and with a little bit of sweat equity, it could still have plenty of life left in it. From the seller’s description:
Bought this from the original owner 15 years ago. Always kept in garage then and now. Car cover still has some life in it. 121,000 Hi way miles.
Slid into a wall in snow 2 years ago and front end is damaged do not want to spend the money to fix but for a mechanic and or car buff that want to restore and have a classic beautiful car this is it .
Needs new front tires rear still have some miles in them. Timing belt should be replaced as has never been done. AC was disconnected a number of years ago and do not believe it was working at time. Cooling fan is not coming on when shut off. Needs to fix. Has a oil drip someplace in front seals. (does not burn oil). OXS light has just come on, so needs to be looked at and reset. Rear right brake needs to be looked at and or replaced. Interior and truck are immaculate. Missing top passenger side chrome trim molding. Needs new windshield, has cracks. Driven gently and if had space and garage to keep would to fix up slowly.
