1974 Citroen Mehari for sale. From the seller’s description:
You are considering owning one of the rarest of all Citroen Deux Cheveaux (2CV) variants, the Mehari, for less than $8000 less than comparable Mehari’s on the market. The Mehari was named after the quick-paced, dromedaries that were utilized by the British during World War II, in the North African campaign against the Nazis.
Approximately 13000 of these were only made at the Citroen factory in Vigo, Spain. I acquired this car through a recent trade; (I have owned many 2CV’s, a Truckette, a DS 19, a Citroen Maserati SM, two 11 CV Traction Avant sedans), but never had the opportunity to own a Mehari in this condition. My intention was to acquire the car, make sure it was “right” and sell it. Although now living in Santa Barbara; I have been tempted to hang on to it. It is the quintessential beach/warm weather car.
Under the orange, plastic/fiberglass body is the standard 2CV configuration; air-cooled 602 cc engine, four-speed transmission, front wheel drive and all of twenty-nine horsepower driving the front wheels. The few things I have done since acquiring the car; the car needed a new fuel tank sending unit, new speedo and fuel gauge, some minor, but essential rewiring and a brand new carburetor. The replaced odometer read 22157 kilometers.
***The car does not need to be SMOG tested in California, because of its age.
The car starts easily, drives very well and everything works; lighting, gauges, etc. The car is extremely simple to work on, if that is your thing.
All mechanical parts are readily available through French Parts Service, in Spokane, Washington.
The car comes with the removable soft top, all side curtains and doors, which are in very good condition. The tires are new and the exterior/interior condition is an 8.5-9 out of 10.
