Hemmings Find of the Day – Road Runner foundry casting and prototype model

roadrunnercasting_01_1000

Whether it was produced for Warner Brothers or for Chrysler (even our resident Mopar expert, Tom DeMauro, can't recall seeing anything like it), these prototype road runner models for sale on Hemmings.com – an actual casting and a Plaster of Paris model from which it was derived – would still make for interesting shelf residents for a Mopar collector. Hopefully the seller has more documentation on their intended use and on their provenance. From the seller's description:

These came out of an old foundry in the SE US had been sitting for over 40 years on a shelf. The casting is 16 inches tall 10 inches long and a 6 inches across.

We beleive this to have been made for Plymouth as the tail is different than the Warner Bros model.
