The rich and long legacy of the Volkswagen-Bugatti collaboration

With the rest of the Internet going ape over the recently released photos of the Bugatti Chiron, we thought we'd look back over the confluence of the Volkswagen and Bugatti names, a tie-up that – would you believe it – goes back decades, as we can see from these photos provided to us by Stefan Obradovic.

Stefan, of Serbia, noted the rendering of the long-lost 1945 Bugatti Veyron we ran a few years back and let us know that he'd been hard at work transforming that rendering into a driveable car.

Finished earlier this year, the "Bugatti" still runs its original Volkswagen engine, but Stefan said he'd like to throw a more fitting Porsche engine into it eventually.

Wonderful job seeing your vision through to reality, Stefan.
