1961ChryslerNewYorker_01_700

Correct, this 1961 Chrysler New Yorker Town and Country for sale on Hemmings.com is far from stock, though it’s not your typical hot rod. To begin with, the builder selected a blend of Mopar parts from the Sixties on up through the 2000s, aiming as much for increasing the wagon’s performance and looks as for doubling down on the luxury appointments and comfort. It’d probably be fascinating to hear the builder’s thought process behind choosing every non-stock piece listed below. From the seller’s description:

This is what Chrysler should have built as a 1961 300G New Yorker 6 passenger wagon. This vehicle is powered by a 440 C.I. V-8 (not stock) with Ram K intake, carbs and cast iron headers mated to a 727 trans and pushing power through a 323 sure grip posi-power traction rear end.

It has a full 300G console, speedometer, steering wheel and glove box complimenting the 4 bucket seats for your seating comfort. There is also a third seat making this a 6 passenger wagon.

The meticulous paint and body work is adorned with excellent chrome and 300 badging, medallions and moldings. The additional options to the vehicle include: air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, 4 power seats, power rear window, remote exterior mirrors and upgraded stereo system. The snowflake wheels on the vehicle are those of a Chrysler Imperial. The outer paint color is Viper Green with a tinge of black with black interior, dash and rugs.
