Hemmings Find of the Day – 1985 Volkswagen Scirocco Wolfsburg Edition

1985 VW Scirocco

Volkswagen’s Scirocco was a hit with North American customers from its 1975 introduction to its 1989 demise, when it was replaced by the more agile, more luxurious and more expensive Corrado. Clean Sciroccos used to be fairly common in the secondhand market, but as the years go by, even second-generation models, especially those in unaltered form, get increasingly hard to find.

This 1985 Volkswagen Scirocco Wolfsburg Edition, for sale on Hemmings.com, is said to be a one-owner car that’s been garaged for the past 15 winters, seeing fair-weather use only. Though not specified in the ad, the car would have come powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder, rated at 90 horsepower and 100 pound-feet of torque, and in this case is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. From the seller’s description:

1985 VW Scirocco Coupe, rare Wolfsburg Edition, is looking for a loving home. Original owner, lady driver. No winter driving for the last fifteen years.

Classic car. A real pleasure to drive. Terrific visibility in all directions. Body solid. Looks great. A real head-turner. Sunroof. Auto trans. Front-wheel drive. Power-assisted steering. Four-cylinder gasoline engine.

Front disc brakes, AM/FM Cassette Stereo, Rear w/wiper, Spoiler on rear hatch
