Want driving lessons from Brian Redman? BMW can make that happen

Brian Redman began racing professionally in 1968, and over the last 48 years has driven everything from sports cars to Formula 1 cars. A member of the Motorsports Hall of Fame, Brian earned Formula 5000 championships in 1974, 1975 and 1976, beating Al Unser and Mario Andretti in the process. In other words, the man knows a thing or two about driving fast, and it stands to reason he’d make a good driving instructor.  If you’d like Brian (and a team of other celebrity veterans) to show you the fast line around Virginia International Raceway on November 7-8, BMW can arrange that.

There is, of course, a catch. The program requires participants to have previous high-performance driving school experience, and a mere 18 spots are available. The price for the two-day school is a considerable $6,795, but that includes the use of BMW’s own M series vehicles along with personalized instruction from racing greats. Students will also receive a BMW Legends at VIR jacket, a gear bag and an autographed copy of Brian’s new book, Daring Drivers, Deadly Tracks.

Joining Brian will be Boris Said, a two-time (1997 and 1998) 24 Hours of Daytona winner who carries the distinction of being the first and only American to win at the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring; and Bill Auberlen, who’s piloted more BMWs in more races than any other driver in the world, is second in all-time North American endurance racing wins, and has also won Daytona twice (with Boris, in 1997 and 1998). The three star drivers will be accompanied by staff from the BMW Performance Driving School, ensuring that the student to instructor ratio is a favorable one.

Participants will also get to ride along in a pair of cars from BMW’s illustrious competition history, including the 3.0 CSL that Brian drove to a win in the 1975 12 Hours of Sebring and the M3 GT that dominated the GT class in the 2011 American Le Mans series.
